We are looking for a Lead Industrial Designer to join our team in Montreal, Canada. In this role, you will spearhead projects from initial concept to final production, mentor junior designers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead and manage the execution of industrial design projects from concept through to production, delivering high-quality and innovative design solutions.
- Capture and manage client design requirements, aligning projects with business strategies and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.
- Build strong relationships with clients, engineering teams, and manufacturing partners for smooth project delivery.
- Conduct comprehensive research on market trends, user needs, and emerging technologies to inform your design decisions.
- Stay on top of the latest design trends, materials, and manufacturing processes by engaging in continuous learning and professional networking.
- Define and develop core design methodologies and best practices for the team, focusing on sustainable and user-centered design principles.
- Lead the development of Tenterra’s design strategy, ensuring our brand remains at the forefront of industrial design innovation.
- Provide creative guidance to resolve design challenges and offer insights on synergies between multiple projects.
- Develop training programs to nurture the professional growth of junior designers on the team.
What We Need From You:
- Minimum 8 years of industrial design experience with a strong portfolio showcasing your ability to bring products to market.
- Expertise in 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360) and visualization tools (e.g., KeyShot, V-Ray).
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and design for manufacturing principles.
- Experience with user-centered design methodologies and design thinking approaches.
- Strong sketching and conceptualization skills, with the ability to quickly communicate ideas.
- Ability to create detailed technical drawings and specifications for production.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a cross-disciplinary environment, fostering teamwork and cooperation.
- Leadership skills with a passion for mentoring junior designers and encouraging a culture of creativity and excellence.
- Flexibility to adjust to evolving project requirements and client feedback.
- Strong presentation and communication skills to articulate design concepts to stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining a high standard of design quality.
